Herniated Disc
Find Relief from Disc Pain with Richmond Hill Chiropractor Dr. Chan
Any type of pain in your life could put a stop to your daily activities, not to mention your overall health and well-being. A common problem that generates severe pain in the neck and back is a herniated disc. While symptoms can be controlled with traditional medicine, it does not solve the root problem, nor does it keep the symptoms at bay. For a more holistic choice that is proven to reduce or eliminate the symptoms associated with a herniated disc, chiropractic care is the solution. And at Spinalcare Chiropractic Clinic, our chiropractor can help you recover from this condition and get you back to living a life free from pain in a safe and fast way.
Herniated Disc vs Bulging Disc: What’s the Difference?
Many identify a herniated disc as a bulging disc, but these two conditions are different from each other, yet similar to how they affect the spinal nerve. A herniated disc happens when the inner gel-like substance of the disc tears through the tough layer of the annulus. A bulging disc occurs when the disc itself protrudes outward, but the gel-like material is undamaged. Since the spinal canal has a limited amount of space, either of these problems can put pressure on the spinal nerve, causing a range of symptoms.
Herniation Symptoms to Watch For
- Pain that radiates to the arms or legs
- Pain that worsens with movements such as bending, walking, or standing
- Weakness and numbness, particularly in the legs but also in the arms at times
- Loss of range of motion in the arms or legs due to pain or stiffness
- Burning or tingling sensations in the affected area
