After another harsh Canadian winter, most people do anticipate to see the spring, however, some of us don't! It is because it is also the allergy season.

There are many different things we can do to improve our allergic symptoms. Most people will try medication to reduce the symptoms like running nose and/or sneezing. Recently, more and more people started to try some alternative methods, like naturopathic remedies or traditional Chinese medicine. So, how does Chiropractic help in this case? First of all, we have to understand why the body gives us allergic symptoms. Our immune system is our defence system which will fight against any harmful pathogens we come across. Once something enters into our body that it cannot be recognized as "friends', the immune system is going to fight for us. The end results are the discomfort we are feeling when we are having cold, such as fever, running/stuff nose, sore throat, cough, etc. This is a normal immune response. However, when our body mistaken the pollens every spring as the "foes", then problems arise.

The key here is the abnormal reaction of the immune system. For the immune system, like other systems of the body, is controlled by the nervous system. Chiropractic adjustments are specialized in removing misalignment of the spine, thus, making sure the nervous system which is enclosed by the spine, can function to the best.  Therefore, it is not a bad idea to see your chiropractor for a regular adjustment during spring time.
